CascadiaPrime Cognition - Norway AI Policy Roll-out

“Norway needs a national strategy for artificial intelligence. With the expansion of the Norwegian AI Lab, more actors can benefit from the advantages and opportunities of artificial intelligence, and Norwegian industries will strengthen their collaboration, which will ultimately contribute to such a strategy,” Telenor Group President and CEO, Sigve Brekke (August 17, 2018)

Observation: Norway is a petro economy with abundant financial reserves. There appears to be little discussion of AI driven change in the political system but the key defence and some economic leaders show awareness of the need to develop AI capabilities and to build a policy framework for AI. The Norwegian Central Bank does not discuss the issue in its public discourse.
